Brighton Wood Store now at Preston Barracks

Brighton Woodstore, the first ever Community Wood Recycling enterprise, is moving its premises from the old marketplace on Circus Street. The new retail site is at Preston Barracks on Lewes Road.

Brighton & Hove Wood Recycling Project, which trades as The Woodstore Brighton, has been on the Circus Street site for more than 10 years, providing local people with all kinds of reclaimed wood and wooden products, and becoming a well-known feature of the city for anyone interested in DIY and sustainability. Now the Circus Street market site is being redeveloped into an educational and business quarter, so the project has found new premises at Preston Barracks.

Built in the eighties, the Preston Barracks building was used for Territorial Army training for only about fifteen years. It’s sat empty since for over ten years and has had a variety of unofficial tenants, but is now the site of FIELD Brighton, a project to use the space to bring together creatives from a range of crafts and studies, with the Woodstore proud to be the first occupant.

Their phone number, email address and website will all remain the same, but their address is now:

The Woodstore
Preston Barracks
Lewes Road
Brighton
BN2 4GL

The site is now active and open for trading, although expect things to be a little chaotic in the first week! They expect to be settled in by their open day on Saturday August 8th, so if you’re in the Brighton and Hove area come along and see what they’ve done with the space, and pick up some good deals.

If you’d like to know more about the Brighton Woodstore or sign up to their updates, visit their website.
