Community Wood Recycling Achieves Supply Chain Sustainability School Gold Membership
We are proud to announce that we have achieved Supply Chain Sustainability School Gold membership, awarded in recognition of outstanding achievement in sharing knowledge and experience while maintaining a high level of training.
At Community Wood Recycling we pioneered a circular economy approach to dealing with timber waste more than twenty years ago. Since then sustainability has been at the heart of what we do, and part of our mission is to share what we have learned about best practice in resource reuse. At the same time, we are committed to keeping up with the evolving way in which our work fits in with our clients’ particular goals, and with wider issues such as diversity and the fight against modern slavery.
Our SCSS membership has allowed Community Wood Recycling to offer our workforce training in wider sustainability best practice. It brings us closer to our major construction company clients and provides us with a complete picture of how what we do fits into their operations, broadening our understanding of the sector.
By completing learning pathways, we have been able to show clients that we are meeting their training requirements. As a social enterprise network, we are particularly grateful for the availability of this free resource.
Fulfilling our clients’ training requirements has helped Community Wood Recycling to win work. We have been able to inspire and motivate staff, including young people on our paid internship programme. SCSS has also helped us to keep up with the evolving terminology and priorities within the construction industry and to be aware of the latest developments in addressing issues such as biodiversity net gain and responsible sourcing protocols.
We have already shared our learning through a case study, and we look forward to contributing more resources to SCSS.
