We are delighted that Community Wood Recycling was recognised with two awards at the Wood Recyclers’ Association’s 25th Anniversary Celebration Awards, held on 2nd July as part of the WRA’s landmark anniversary conference.
Community Wood Recycling was honoured with the Business Champion Award, recognising organisations that demonstrate outstanding performance, leadership, sustainability and best practice within the UK wood recycling sector.
This is a huge honour and shows how much the WRA values reuse and social value. The award reflects the work of our member enterprises, staff, volunteers, trainees, clients and supporters across the UK who prove every day that wood reuse can save resources while changing lives.
We are also incredibly proud that our founder and Managing Director, Richard Mehmed, received the Outstanding Contribution to the UK Wood Recycling Sector Award. Richard’s vision created the first Community Wood Recycling project in Brighton in 1998, and his commitment has since helped grow a national network of social enterprises that combine environmental benefit with opportunities for people facing barriers to employment.
