Glasgow Wood inspire the next generation of architects

Glasgow Wood welcomed a group of Glasgow School of Art Stage 4 architects into the South St workshop and timber yard to find out about their site and how it successfully and unsuccessfully fits their needs as a charity, social enterprise and business.

It was part of an Urban Building project the students are working on to reimagine a derelict city centre site into something which can be used by local businesses. Glasgow Wood is one of 3 organisations (The Glasgow Building Preservation Trust and Film City Glasgow are the others) they can choose from to focus their project on.

The brief was to leverage the organisation’s core mission of sustainability, social enterprise, and craftsmanship in the creation of a dynamic and multifunctional space in Glasgow’s city centre. The finished design should take advantage of the visibility and accessibility provided by a city-centre location, fostering a stronger connection with the public and stakeholders to enhance Glasgow Wood’s impact.

We look forward to seeing what they have achieved at the graduate showcase later in the year.
