Congratulations to the team at our Glasgow wood recyclers Glasgow Wood who were named winners of the Morgan Sindall Construction Scotland Supply Chain Climate Action Award for 2024. Glasgow Wood worked with Morgan Sindall on the Coatbridge Community Hub, a project which brings together two primary schools, Carnbroe PS and Sikeside PS along with an early years class, providing a capacity of 534 pupils and 50 early learning and childcare places. The two-storey building has extensive natural lighting along with engaging and flexible learning spaces.

The development also includes an 11-a-side all-weather playing surface, extensive landscaped and outside teaching facilities which are designed to provide what those behind the project describe as a country like park feel. The facilities will be available to the wider community outwith the school day. It’s a great project to be involved with.

Through this partnership with Morgan Sindall, Glasgow Wood were able to save 73.8 tonnes from the waste stream for sorting, and 17 tonnes of this material was reused by the local community – that’s three times the weight of an African elephant!

We are very grateful for the recognition Morgan Sindall gives to the supply chain through these awards. Good luck to Glasgow Wood for the national awards in November!
