We are delighted to announce that Vanessa Nannan has been appointed as Chief Operating Officer and member of the board of directors of Community Wood Recycling. Vanessa joined Community Wood Recycling as General Manager in 2017. Since then she has led the transformation of how we deliver 12,000 waste wood collections across the country every year. A particular highlight was the launch of our innovative tablet based electronic waste transfer note system, a project delivered in March 2021 while she and her team were working in national lockdown conditions.

Vanessa brings a passionate belief in social justice and opportunity for all, and a commitment to looking after our environment for the benefit of the generations that come after us. She combines this with a deep understanding of the business needs of our clients and our network of social enterprises, and of the strategic and performance goals we need to achieve in order to deliver our social and environmental outcomes.

Community Wood Recycling managing director Richard Mehmed said:

“I am delighted to welcome Vanessa to our board and to her new role as Chief Operating Officer. With proven leadership at an operational level, commitment to our cause and strong relationships with the social enterprises in our network who know they can always call her for advice and support, she will bring an invaluable extra dimension to our leadership.”
