Wood Recyclers’ Association visit

On April 10th, we had the pleasure of hosting the Wood Recyclers’ Association (WRA) at our national office in Brighton. Julia Turner, Executive Director of WRA, and Caelia Quinault, PR Manager of WRA, came down to find out more about how we save waste timber for reuse.

During their visit, Julia and Caelia were introduced to the various initiatives through which we support our 25 social enterprise members including securing waste wood collection contracts with leading construction firms. They met the people responsible for developing our relationships with our clients and our operations team.

The tour continued with a visit to The Wood Store, the pioneering project established in 1998 by our managing director Richard Mehmed. As the first scheme of its kind in the UK, The Wood Store is dedicated to the reuse of waste timber, contributing significantly to environmental sustainability. It also provides valuable training and volunteering opportunities for disadvantaged individuals.

They were able to see the timber for sale for local DIY enthusiasts and the products made at the wood store, and hear more about the journeys of people who benefit from working and volunteering at the project.

We extend our thanks to Julia and Caelia, for coming to see us and for their support for wood reuse and the development of a circular economy.
