In the heart of Manchester, a unique project has come to fruition, showcasing the potential of recycled wood. EMERGE Recycling’s Touch Wood team has completed a wellbeing area for Siemens Energy, demonstrating their commitment to sustainability.

The new space, designed to seat up to 25 people, shows what can be done with timber destined for the waste stream. It features seating crafted entirely from 100% rescued wood, from sources as diverse as Manchester’s velodrome track, whiskey barrels, cable drum wheels, and scaffold boards. The partially covered pergola, tailored for the unpredictable British summers, is a place where employees can relax, reflect, and recharge amidst the natural beauty of wood with a history. The commission doesn’t just save valuable resources, it has allowed Touch Wood to offer more opportunities to the disadvantaged and marginalised people supported by the project.

Chris, the lead of Touch Wood, expressed his pride in the project:

“It has been a privilege for us to work on this prestigious project for the benefit of Siemens staff by creating a wonderful wellbeing area.”
